One member of Pakistan's gay community said he was worried Ejaz could be hailed as a hero by some conservative Muslims. 'To increase your privacy and security, we have decided to close Manjam to non-members in Pakistan until further notice,' it said in a statement. Manjam, the gay social networking and dating site which Ejaz is said to have used to meet his victims, has closed to new members in Pakistan. In the absence of gay venues they rely on the Internet and mobile apps to arrange clandestine dates. The case has shone an unwelcome spotlight on Pakistan's closeted gay community, who are often afraid to come out to their families.
